Ted Maley, Managing Consultant, Bisham Consulting

Ted Maley is a specialist in distribution business processes and systems and has worked in the materials handling, logistics and supply chain industries since 1983. He has a particular expertise in process improvement and is a specialist in warehouse management systems. His experience extends to Customer Service, the order to cash cycle, achievement of on-time in-full, and includes total reviews of distribution businesses and supporting business systems. He designs warehouse layouts, pick and pack operations etc. and has managed a variety of projects for materials handling, warehouse and associated systems. Clients value his pragmatism, his experience in the logistics industry and the improvements he can bring about. He has also been appointed as expert witness and to carry out ‘due diligence’ reviews.

Ted is a Chartered Engineer, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport and holds an MBA. He is Managing Consultant at Bisham Consulting and over a 10 year period has written and presented a variety of papers on subjects relating to the efficient operation of warehouses.

Jeremy Batchelor, Managing Director and founder of Catalyst Logistics

Jeremy Batchelor is Managing Director and founder of Catalyst Logistics, a consultancy that specialises in the planning and optimisation of complex supply chains. Jeremy is a highly regarded supply chain consultant and thought leader with over 25 years experience in operational and systems change management. Jeremy has led successful supply chain projects with many blue chip companies including Co-operative Food (UK food retail), RS Components (European, US and Asia-Pacific electronics distribution), Royal Mail (UK and international parcels and mail), Shell (Middle East oil and gas), Heineken (UK drinks), Saint Gobain (UK construction materials), Whitbread (UK drinks), Walmart ASDA (UK food and non-food retail), George (UK fashion), American Safety Razor (US and European FMCG), DHL (European contract and express logistics) and Department for Work and Pensions (UK Govt records storage). Following his early career in logistics systems, Jeremy was a senior logistics consultant with Ernst & Young before founding Catalyst Logistics in 1996.

Jeremy holds a Masters Degree in Logistics and Supply Chain from Cranfield University, the leading European centre of excellence in supply chain education where he returned to teach the application of advanced technologies in logistics to Cranfield logistics and supply chain masters students for a further two years.

Neil Middleton, Director, Bisham Consulting

Neil Middleton has worked in front-line managerial roles right across the supply chain from sales and customer service through transport and warehousing management to inventory control. He has operated at Board level in Third Party Contracting, Retailing and Wholesaling businesses and has since spent 12 years in consulting. The Bisham business offers commercial and pragmatic solutions to logistics and supply chain issues based on practical experience of working in operational management roles. We are effective on the shop-floor with front-line staff management as well as in the Board room.

Neil manages projects covering all aspects of supply chain management from strategy to implementation. He has a particular interest in the following areas: Logistics and Supply Chain Strategy; Distribution Network planning and rationalisation; Outsourcing and Third Party Contract management; Stock and Inventory management, and the IT systems which support logistics and supply chain processes.

Simon Tomlinson, Director, The Logistics Business

On obtaining his degree in Production Engineering, Simon undertook a number of roles in manufacturing companies, all logistics related and in 1985 Simon opened the first UK office for a Swiss supplier of warehouse automation. In 1991 Simon started THE LOGISTICS BUSINESS with a business partner. This consultancy and engineering services business specialises in providing skills and know-how covering most aspects of logistics and the supply chain. Contracts range from very brief reviews and health checks lasting a day or two up to long term implementation projects spanning a number of years. A key area of expertise is supply chain modelling as is warehouse automation with a number of successful projects delivered with project values of up to £100M and for operations of all sizes, some in excess of 1M ft2.

Clients with whom he has worked range from retailers such as Asda, B&Q, Sainsbury’s, Tesco, through dot com retailers such as M&M Direct, Otto and Tesco Direct to manufacturing companies such as Glaxo Smith Kline, Jeyes group and Procter & Gamble.
